Ethanol Blend Labeling Requirements

The North Carolina Gasoline and Oil Inspection Board must adopt rules requiring labels to be posted on pumps that dispense ethanol-blended gasoline available for purchase. The labels must specify whether the fuel being dispensed is an ethanol blend of less than 10% (E10) or greater than 10%. (Reference House Bill 187, 2011, and North Carolina General Statutes 119-27.2)

Plug-In Electric Vehicle Definition

A plug-in electric vehicle is defined as a vehicle that:

  • Draws electricity from a battery with a capacity of at least four kilowatt hours and that is capable of being charged from an external source;
  • Has not been modified from the original equipment manufacturer power train specifications;
  • Has a gross vehicle weight rating of 8,500 pounds or less;
  • Has a maximumspeed capacity of at least 65 miles per hour; and
  • Meets applicable requirements in Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations, section 571.
