Abstract

Accelerating the shift of refuse trucks and other heavy duty diesel bus and truck fleets to natural gas is an immediately feasible cost-effective strategy for moving to reduce greenhouse gases. In 2007, four corporate and municipal pioneers put 38 refuse haulers in service in the New York Metropolitan Region. This report is a narrative of their experiences.
