Abstract

The February 2006 Clean Cities Alternative Fuel Price Report is a quarterly newsletter keeping you up to date on the prices of alternative fuels in the U.S. and their relation to gasoline and diesel prices. This issue discusses prices that were gathered from Clean Cities coordinators and stakeholders in January and February 2006, and then averaged in order to determine regional price trends by fuel and variability in fuel price within regions and among regions. The prices collected for this report represent retail, at-the-pump sales prices for each fuel, including Federal and state motor fuel taxes.

Table 1 illustrates that all of the alternative fuels (with the exception of biodiesel) are lower in price than conventional fuels on a per-gallon basis. Relative to the last report from September 2005, the average prices for all of the fuels included in this price report have dropped in price by as much as 50 cents.
