Richard Steinhaus started as assistant coordinator of the Long Beach Clean Cities coalition in 2005 and became the primary coordinator for the coalition in August 2009. Steinhaus also serves as an Administrative Analyst in the Fleet Operations for the City of Long Beach.

In his coordinator role, Steinhaus carries out day-to-day and annual coalition activities, fulfills Clean Cities contractual obligations, and supports local, state, and federal Clean Cities objectives. As the Administrative Analyst in Fleet Operations, his key responsibilities include development of the annual budget for the City's fleet customers which is about $32 million for about 1,800 units, fuel issues and oversight of the City's Underground Storage Tank program for fueling stations. The City's fueling stations include liquified natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), biodiesel, ultra low sulfur diesel, and unleaded gasoline.
