Kay Stephens started as the Clean Cities Coordinator for Middle Georgia Clean Cities Coalition in February 2012. For the prior two years, she worked with AmeriCorps VISTA and ran a Community Literacy Lab for the Adult Education Program at Central Georgia Technical College.

For more than three years, Stephens has chaired The Pan African Festival of Georgia. This collaborative program with the Tubman African-American Museum raises funds to send under- privileged children to summer camp and other educational programs offered by the museum. She participated as a Grant Reviewer and Panelist for the Georgia Council for the Arts, and was the Board Secretary of Macon Arts Alliance. Her education includes course work at the Los Angeles Valley College, Institute of Banking, Los Angeles, California and communication classes at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia.
