Clean Cities Coordinator

Elaine Barnes

Elaine Barnes joined Earth Day Coalition (EDC) as the Northeast Ohio Clean Transportation Director early in 2012. As the region¿s Clean Cities coordinator, Barnes will work to develop a robust stakeholder community and program initiatives; support, market and expand our area clean fleets; collaborate with local agencies and organizations to promote a diversified energy portfolio; and integrate this work into Earth Day Coalitions other community focused work.

Prior to working with EDC, Barnes worked as the Green Schools Program Director at the Ohio School Facilities Commission, Executive Director of the Cleveland Green Building Coalition and as K-12 Energy Analyst at the Ohio Department of Development. She has also her own consulting firm focused on energy policy and energy efficiency in commercial and industrial buildings.

Barnes is a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Otterbein College. She completed 3 years toward a PhD in physics (optical physics and physics education) at The Ohio State University and served as adjunct faculty at OSU for over a decade.
