Steve Carr became the co-coordinator of the Clean Communities of Western New York (CCWNY) Clean Cities coalition in 2009. CCWNY was formed in 1995 to bring the initiatives of the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities program to the regional area of western New York. The coalition's purpose is to educate and inform the western New York region on the economic and environmental benefits of alternative fuels in transportation applications. These fuels include electricity, biodiesel, natural gas, ethanol, propane, and natural gas.

In addition to his co-coordinator duties, Carr is a full-time student at the University at Buffalo majoring in business management.
