Engine R&D to Improve Efficiency and Reduce Emissions

February 01, 2010. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for Engine R&D to Improve Efficiency and Reduce Emissions. Through this RFP, EPA seeks research that includes investigation into the effect of the piston bowl design on fuel-air mixing and combustion in direct injection engines and provide comprehensive details on the influence of in-cylinder fuel spray injection pressure, spray patterns, liquid and vapor fuel penetration, injection timing and duration, nozzle geometry, ignition timing for best performance, as well as the effect of exhaust gas recirculation on combustion process and emissions. $800K expected to be available for one award. Responses due 3/5/10. For more info, contact Fakhri Hamady or go to: http://www.epa.gov. Refer to Sol# EPA-OAR-OTAQ-10-03.

On Board Hydrogen Storage & Power Systems for Class II Forklifts

February 01, 2010. The Naval Surface Warfare Center requests proposals for On Board Hydrogen Storage & Power Systems for Class II Forklifts. This RFP is for basic/applied R&D efforts for hydrogen storage and fuel cell system design concepts for operational demonstration. The primary performance objective of this effort is to replace the current batteries in the battery powered fleet of Class II forklifts. Responses due 2/12/10. For more info, contact Lorna Tribby or go to: Naval Surface Warfare Center. Refer to Sol# N0016410RGS57.

Transportation Program - California

February 01, 2010. The California Energy Commission requests proposals for the Energy Innovations Small Grant Transportation Program. This RFP will support research to reduce vehicle energy consumption by improving vehicle efficiency and enabling alternative fuel vehicles, and research that will provide tools and methods to produce data and understanding to help decision-makers reduce transportation energy use and GHG emissions. Awards NTE $95K for hardware projects requiring physical testing and $50K for modeling projects. Responses due 3/30/10. For more info, contact eisg@projects.sdsu.edu or go to: California Energy Commission. Refer to Sol# 10-01T.

Methane Recovery

January 04, 2010. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for Activities that Advance Methane Recovery and Use as a Clean Energy Source. This RFP will support investigation, survey, study, training, and demonstration projects that advance international near-term, cost-effective methane recovery and use as a clean energy source, and supports the goals of the Methane to Markets Partnership. $5 million is expected to be available for up to 35 awards. A Notice of Intent to Apply is requested but not required and is due 2/11/10. Final proposals are due 4/15/10. For more info, contact Henry Ferland or go to: FedConnect.
