Legislative Session Information

The West Virginia legislature meets annually from early January to early March. During the session, the governor must sign or veto legislation within five days of transmittal (except Sundays). For bills transmitted after the session adjourns, the governor has 15 days to act from adjournment (excluding Sundays), except in the case of budget or appropriations bills, where the governor must sign or veto legislation within five days (excluding Sundays).
